A. Solicitation and/or Selling Requires Prior Approval. Solicitation or canvassing by individuals or organizations on UI property is prohibited without prior approval by the president or the president's designee. United Way and Vandal Boosters have continuing approval, and the sales of tickets for events sponsored by local lodges, service clubs, and organizations are permitted if the sales are made by faculty, staff, or students.

B. Advertising Sales. The solicitation of advertising for inclusion in publications, including student publications, must have prior approval by the president or the president's designee.

C. Product Sales. The sale of merchandise, food, books, publications, or services of any kind on UI property is prohibited, except as approved in writing by the president or the president's designee. UI Auxiliary Service operations

(e.g. the University Bookstore, the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center, and UI Dining Services) are not restricted by this policy.

D. Non University Endorsement. Permission to solicit or to sell on the campus does not imply university endorsement of the products or services offered.

E. Precautions Regarding Sales of Goods or Services. Students and student groups are urged to take the following precautions when dealing with any solicitors or salesmen: confirm that they have cleared their operations with residence hall staff or, in the case of fraternities and sororities, the president or adviser of the student group; check their identification; record their names and addresses and those of their businesses or organizations; compare their prices and goods or services with those available locally; confine all business to a strictly cash-on-delivery basis; and restrict all business to the living-group lounge, dining room, or other common rooms.
