Moscow Furniture Show celebrates student creativity and community collaboration
Inaugural event connects University of Idaho students with regional designers through hands-on work, interactive pieces and community engagement

MOSCOW, Idaho — University of Idaho’s College of Art and Architecture will host the inaugural Moscow Furniture Show from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the 1912 Center, 412 E. Third St., Moscow.
With the annual Chair Affair Gala organized by the Boise-based Interior Designers of Idaho being postponed this year due to the organization’s restructuring, faculty and students jumped in to create a local showcase highlighting student creativity while promoting connection with regional design professionals.
“This exhibit allows for our program and instructional team to celebrate the hard work and successes of our students, while giving the students themselves the opportunity to demonstrate how their created pieces can invite conversation and connection,” said Tharique De Silva, assistant professor of interior architecture and design. “This is exemplified by the theme of the furniture pieces requiring some form of sensory response or component — something we hope that the show’s visitors will enjoy interacting with.”
The show will feature furniture designed and built by third-year students in the Interior Architecture and Design Program, alongside pieces from local and regional designers. Attendees can cast votes for their favorite student designs in four award categories, enjoy live music, savor local food and drinks and enter to win raffle prizes supported by local businesses and regional design firms.
Admission is free and open to the public. Design professionals interested in exhibiting built furniture pieces may participate for a small fee.
