MOSCOW, Idaho — Idaho Repertory Theatre (IRT), the professional theater in residence at University of Idaho, presents the Obie award-winning play “What the Constitution Means to Me” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, at the Forge Theater, 404 Sweet Ave., Moscow.

“What the Constitution Means to Me” is based on the true experiences of playwright Heidi Schreck, who as a teenager from Wenatchee, Washington, competed in American Legion Oratorical Contests, winning enough prize money to pay her way through college. “Constitution” contrasts her thoughts from then and now, 30 years later.

Directed by U of I professor David Lee-Painter and featuring U of I professor Kelly Quinnett and U of I theater alumnus Jeff Davis, the play highlights the brilliance and betrayal of our constitution, especially when it comes to women. Both serious and humorous, “Constitution” contains mentions of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and discussions of abortion and its stigmatization.

Showtimes are as follows:

  • 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30
  • 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1
  • 7:30 p.m. Saturday Dec. 2
  • 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3

Tickets are free for U of I students and $5 to $25 for the general public except for opening night when tickets are $10. They are available online at uitickets.com or at the door an hour before the show begins.
