June 13, 2023

MOSCOW, Idaho — The Idaho Forest Owners Association and the University of Idaho Experimental Forest will host the 2023 Forest Owners Field Day Saturday, June 17, at the Big Meadow Field Station on Tamarack Road in Troy. The event is open to the public.

Local landowners and other members of the public can learn about forests and forestry, with access to over 15 educational stations that focus on forest insects, disease, forest road maintenance, building recreational trails, protecting streams, managing for wildlife, using lidar to develop individual tree property maps and fire preparedness on Moscow Mountain.

The lunch presentation will include local forest and wildfire history on the Palouse Range, including map displays of the largest wildfire that burned on Moscow Mountain in 1931. Live music will be provided by local musicians Chelsea Llewelyn and Maggie Keefe of The Chelseas accompanied by Will Fontane.

Registration is $35 per person or $45 per family. Register online, where a list of demonstration topics is available.
