Perimeter Drive traffic changes begin July 20 on University of Idaho campus
Traffic diversion marks the start of the Perimeter Bridge replacement project, with a full road closure planned for mid-August through May 2027
July 13, 2026
MOSCOW, Idaho — University of Idaho will begin diverting traffic on Perimeter Drive south of Idaho State Highway 8 beginning Monday, July 20, as construction starts on the Perimeter Bridge replacement project.
Starting July 20, two-way vehicle traffic will remain open through the area, but drivers should expect delays as traffic is diverted. Pedestrians will be routed to a temporary detour.
Funded through the state of Idaho’s Deferred Maintenance Initiative, the approximately 10-month project will replace Perimeter Bridge and address long-standing concerns related to high water events, including those experienced this spring. Following the reopening of Nez Perce Drive to vehicle traffic in mid-August, Perimeter Drive will fully close until the project is completed in May 2027.
Additional information about detours and access routes will be shared as plans are finalized. An interactive campus construction map with road closures and project updates is available.
