BOISE, Idaho — Water is a complicated topic for Idaho communities and across the other arid Western states and will be the focus of the University of Idaho McClure Center’s Policy Pub Speaker Series 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Pengilly’s, 513 W. Main St., Boise.
Organized by U of I’s James A. and Louise McClure Center for Public Policy Research, the event will feature panelists from local government, state government and research labs. These experts will share perspectives on water in Idaho and explore connections with communities, economics, research, policy and management. A brief discussion will be followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the audience.
Panelists include Scott Bedke, rancher and lieutenant governor of Idaho; Kendra Kaiser, director of the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute; and Travis Rothweiler, Twin Falls city manager. McClure Center Director Katherine Himes will moderate the discussion.
“The event is a unique opportunity for Idahoans to engage directly with those who work on water in Idaho, learn about challenges and opportunities and ask questions that are top of mind,” Himes said.
Policy Pub is free and open to the public. Reserve your ticket at tinyurl.com/236rw5cw. The venue is limited to those 21 and over.
Inspired by Senator and Louise McClure’s legacy, the McClure Center conducts evidence-based research, informs public dialogue and policy, facilitates collaborations and engages students in learning about public policy making.
Policy Pub is designed to engage Idahoans in stimulating conversations on a variety of policy topics.
