MOSCOW, Idaho — University of Idaho has named Brooke Blevins interim provost and executive vice president. Blevins will transition into this new role immediately.

Blevins has served as dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences (EHHS) since 2022. During her tenure, the college expanded educational opportunities, strengthened industry and philanthropic partnerships and advanced its research portfolio. Under her leadership, employees developed a new Doctor of Education in Learning, Leadership and Innovation — a fully online doctoral program designed to serve organizational leaders across Idaho.

“Brooke is a thoughtful, collaborative leader who understands the importance of student success, academic excellence and strong partnerships across Idaho,” U of I President Scott Green said. “She has a proven record of advancing innovation and expanding opportunity, and I am confident she will provide steady leadership for the university in this important role.”

In her current role, Blevins works closely with the Idaho State Board of Education and has testified before the Idaho Legislature on issues related to K-12 education, educator preparation and educational leadership. She also has established partnerships with the Idaho Department of Education, Idaho Division of Career and Technical Education, Idaho Workforce Council and Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Blevins earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and speech communication and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity University. She earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from The University of Texas at Austin. Before entering higher education, she taught high school in Texas. Prior to joining U of I, she served at Baylor University as the Conwell G. Strickland Endowed Chair and chair of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

Blevins replaces Torrey Lawrence who has served in the role since 2020 and will be returning to a faculty position at U of I.

An internal search for an interim dean of EHHS will begin immediately.
