Four individuals performing on stage at a theatreAuditions for Fall 2023 take place Aug. 26

August 21, 2023

MOSCOW, Idaho — Auditions for the University of Idaho’s 2023 fall theatre season will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Hartung Theater on the U of I campus. Auditions are in-person and are open to anyone, including members of the Palouse community, with an interest in live theatre.

Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue, which can be comedic or dramatic, be able to perform 32 bars of a Broadway/musical theatre song and have the sheet music available. Actors who do not have a monologue or song prepared may still audition as material will be provided. Full details are available on the productions and events audition page.

U of I’s Department of Theatre Arts is casting for four fall productions: “Amélie (The Musical),” co-produced by Lionel Hampton School of Music; “What the Constitution Means to Me,” featuring U of I professor Kelly Quinnett; “Not Dead Enough,” by Master of Fine Arts candidate Kellie Stonebrook; and “Coloring Along the Lines,” by Master of Fine Arts candidate Jesse Parr.

“Not Dead Enough” and “Coloring Along the Lines” are part of “First Bite,” a new play development series by the Department of Theatre Arts. “First Bite” provides emerging U of I playwrights the chance to receive development support through staged readings, workshops and premiere productions, while creating a unique space for playwrights to collaborate with directors, cast and crew members and the audience while preparing their work for the stage.
