MOSCOW, Idaho — The Auditorium Chamber Music Series (ACMS) presents the string ensemble Viano Quartet for a night of bold, expressive chamber music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the University of Idaho Administration Building Auditorium in Moscow.

The group will also offer three master classes in the Lionel Hampton School of Music building. High-strings (violin and viola) and low-strings (cello) master classes will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22. A composition master class will be at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23. These sessions are free and open to the public.

Additionally, Viano Quartet will hold two free, public concerts in Moscow:

  • An educational concert at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Moscow Public Library, 110 S. Jefferson St.
  • Children’s Rug Concert — a program tailored for children ages 3-5 — at 9 a.m. Jan. 23 at the 1912 Center Lecompte Auditorium, 412 E. Third St.

Praised for their “virtuosity, visceral expression, and rare unity of intention” by the Boston Globe, the Viano Quartet is one of the most sought-after performing young ensembles today and a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Avery Fisher Career Grant. The ensemble features violinists Lucy Wang and Hao Zhou, violist Aiden Kane and cellist Tate Zawadiuk.

Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors, $10 for U of I students and free for children 12 and under. They can be purchased at uitickets.com, at the Bruce M. Pitman Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and at the door an hour before the concert begins (card only).

Since 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series has presented some of the world’s finest small ensembles in the beautiful neo-Gothic auditorium in the heart of U of I’s campus. Four ensembles visit the Palouse each year, performing for the series and enriching the region through school residencies, informal performances in community venues and master classes.
