MOSCOW, Idaho — The Auditorium Chamber Music Series (ACMS) closes out its season with genre-defying quartet Quartetto Gelato performing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at the University of Idaho’s Administration Building Auditorium in Moscow.
“Many of our loyal patrons have been asking when we would bring back Quartetto Gelato, and I’m thrilled we were able to make that wish come true,” said Eneida Larti, ACMS director and associate professor of piano. “I couldn’t imagine a more electrifying way to bring our season to a close.”
Quartetto Gelato is a virtuosic quartet known for its blend of showpieces, romantic ballads, Romani and klezmer tunes and theatrical flair. With sold-out performances worldwide and a repertoire spanning classical to world music, the group captivates audiences with its musical mastery, humor and engaging stage presence. Their recordings — 10 and counting — showcase global influences and original works, including the latest, “Tasty Tunes.”
“Quartetto Gelato’s distinctive and lively sound blends various styles in a chamber-music setting, and it will be great to see them live with their signature fun and flamboyant stage presence,” ACMS Manager Navin Chettri said.
Seats are selling out quickly for this concert, so organizers recommend purchasing tickets early.
Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors, $10 for U of I students and free for children 12 and under. They can be purchased at uitickets.com, the Bruce M. Pitman Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and at the door one hour before the concert begins (card only).
Since 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series has presented some of the world’s finest small ensembles in the beautiful neo-Gothic auditorium in the heart of U of I’s campus. Four ensembles visit the Palouse each year, performing for the series and enriching the region through school residencies, informal performances in community venues and masterclasses.
