U of I Coeur d'Alene Receives UEDA Award of Excellence

The University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene was recognized with the Award of Excellence from the University Economic Development Association (UEDA). Center Executive Officer Charles Buck presented the Inspire Idaho initiative at the UEDA summit Oct. 1 in Reno, Nevada. Inspire Idaho is a free app development program with 300 active participants statewide. U of I Coeur d'Alene launched the program in 2018 in an effort to reduce barriers to education. Read more

Student Health Clinic Returning to Campus

As students arrive to campus, faculty and staff should be aware the Student Health Clinic, formerly located downtown, will return to campus this year. In the meantime, Student Health Clinic services for students are available at the Gritman Moscow Family Medicine westside office, next to the QuickCare office, at 2500 W. Jack Dawson

Jack Dawson, a dean of the University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene for 26 years, died July 16, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson's. Dawson served as the leader of the North Idaho center from 1982 until 2008, growing the local U of I presence from a single classroom with no degree offerings to multiple buildings and more than 15 degree programs. Grad Receives Fulbright Distinguished Teaching Award

Gerald Dalebout, an alumnus of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, is one of 25 U.S. citizens tapped to receive a prestigious Fulbright Distinguished Teaching Award. Dalebout, who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from U of I, has taught social studies at Moscow High School since 2011. The award will allow him to live in the Netherlands and study the Dutch educational approach from January through June 2020. Read more

The University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education has named Davin Carr-Chellman, a faculty member in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, as the council's 2019 recipient of the Outstanding Assistant Professor Award. Dr. Grace Goc Karp will be retiring from the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences this spring. Dr. Goc Karp joined our faculty in 1993, achieving tenure in 1995. She leaves us as a Professor of Physical Education and program coordinator for Exercise, Sport and Health Science. She was no stranger to the Vandal Family as she received two degrees from University of Idaho–an MS in Physical Education in 1981 and a doctorate in Sports Pedagogy in 1985. 1,502 Students will Graduate from U of I This Spring

MOSCOW, Idaho — April 30, 2019 — A total of 1,502 University of Idaho students statewide are eligible for graduation this spring, earning a combined 1,562 degrees. U of I students have applied for 1,153 bachelor’s degrees, 91 law degrees, 37 doctoral degrees, 13 specialist degrees and 268 master’s degrees. Some students will have earned multiple degrees. This year's commencement brings the university's all-time total to 121,973 graduates and 130,421 degrees. Read more

Daniel Campbell Wins Award for Productivity Reporting Tool

Congratulations to Daniel Campbell, director of assessment and accreditation with the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences who accepted the Western Academic Leadership Forum's (WALF) Colleague's Choice Award for a faculty productivity reporting tool developed at the University of Idaho. The paper earned her the American Educational Research Association's (AERA) Classroom Observation Special Interest Groups’ 2018 Exemplary Paper Award.
