Bachelor of Science in Forestry
Work in the woods
Being surrounded by cedars and pines on your first day of class is nothing out of the ordinary when your classroom is a 10,000-acre experimental forest.
In one of the top-ranked forestry programs in the nation for quality and value, your research takes you outside from day one as you study with world-class faculty. Whether in the Experimental Forest, Pitkin Forest Nursery or at the McCall Field Campus along Payette Lake, our students learn in the diverse landscapes of Idaho and the Inland Northwest. As a forestry major pursuing a forestry operations emphasis, you’ll learn about forest ecosystems with a strong focus on forest operations and sustainable forest management. You’ll also gain insight into the financial side of forestry and learn about products and manufacturing.
Accredited by the Society of American Foresters, U of I’s program has trained forestry leaders for over 100 years. Graduates are in high demand with the forest industry and natural resource agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service and Idaho Department of Lands.
