Hands-on learning

  • Exercise Physiology Laboratory — This advanced lab supports research in metabolism, cardiorespiratory function, cardiac health and body composition. Students use professional-grade equipment to perform a wide range of performance and physiological assessments, preparing them for careers in health, fitness and rehabilitation.
  • Biomechanics Laboratory — Focused on movement analysis and motor control, this lab features force plate technology and infrared motion-capture systems. Students gain practical experience conducting research and applying biomechanics to improve athletic performance, injury prevention and human movement studies.

Internships and practicums

Students in the exercise, sport and health sciences program gain extensive hands-on experience through two practicums and a capstone internship. These opportunities allow you to explore career paths, apply classroom learning in real settings and build skills that set you apart after graduation.

  • Practicums (Two total, one credit each): Complete 40 hours in an exercise, sport or health science setting. You’ll observe professionals, assist with daily operations and practice the techniques you’ve learned in class.
  • Internship (Nine credits): During your final semester, spend 360 hours immersed in the field. This culminating experience sharpens your leadership, communication and professional skills while preparing you for your next step — whether graduate school or your career.
