Research Areas
The Department of Mathematics and Statistical Science at the University of Idaho has an active research faculty, with some participating in interdisciplinary collaborations. Faculty members conduct research in the following areas:

Our contributions to the areas of Bioinformatics, Combinatorics, and Mathematics Education are gaining the University of Idaho Mathematics Department a strong national reputation. All of this research activity has stimulated our graduate program with support for students and with the development of new coursework.
Bioinformatics Research Funding
In terms of external funding, the bioinformatics group, which includes members from our department and the departments of Biology, Computer Science, and Geology, has attracted over 20 million dollars in multi-year funding to support their research.
