Graduate Program

An advanced degree in mathematics prepares students for a career in teaching, research, and various technical fields.

Master of Arts in Teaching

The M.A.T. degree prepares students for secondary teaching and for some junior college positions. We offer this degree on campus and through distance learning.

Master of Science

The M.S. degree prepares students to enter a Ph.D. program, to teach at some colleges, and for many positions in business and industry. Most students can complete our non-thesis M.S. program in two years.

Doctor of Philosophy

A Ph.D. in mathematics gives you the opportunity to teach mathematics at the university level (with the opportunity for original research).

Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

The University of Idaho also has strong departments of biology, computer science, and several engineering disciplines. Several of our faculty members and graduate students participate in our interdisciplinary graduate program in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
