Metal Detector Policy

In an effort to continue the University of Idaho’s long-standing commitment to provide a safe and secure environment for all patrons, coaches and athletes, walk-through metal detectors will be implemented at entrances of the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center and ICCU Arena for university sponsored events expected to exceed 1,000 persons. This includes all home football games.

When guests arrive at the entrance gates, they will be asked to follow the instructions of the security screening staff and place large metal objects such as phones, keys and cameras in containers or in their clear bag on screening tables before passing through the walk-through metal detectors. Guests may be asked to remove belts, watches, wallets, jewelry, shoes, jackets, coins or other small objects.

Prohibited items:

• All weapons as identified in University of Idaho Policy 95.12.
• Lighters and flammable liquids
• Cameras with lenses larger than 4 inches
• Laser pointers
• Aerosol cans
• Any other item listed in the University of Idaho Clear Bag Policy

To expedite the screening process, it is recommended that patrons use their approved clear bag to carry items rather than place them on the screening table. The approved clear bag will be inspected at each detector screening table.

Anyone in possession of a prohibited item will be asked to return the item to their vehicle before being permitted to have their ticket scanned to enter.

Fans with physical disabilities or concerns about passing through the walk-through metal detectors will still be subject to screening with a hand-held metal detector wand.
