Communication Minor

Because communication can be seen as a discipline that links other disciplines, a communication minor can pair beautifully with majors in a host of other fields.

The minor offers theory-based, research-oriented and applied training in interpersonal, organizational and intercultural communication and other courses in areas associated with communication.

The communication minor requires completion of the following five courses:

  • COMM 111 Introduction to Communication Studies (3 credits)
  • COMM 233 Interpersonal Communication (3 credits)
  • COMM 335 Intercultural Communication (3 credits)
  • COMM 355 Organizational Communication (3 credits)
  • COMM 410 Conflict Management (3 credits)

And at least one of the following:

  • COMM 332 Communication in the Small Group (3 credits)
  • COMM 340 Family Communication (3 credits)
  • COMM 347 Persuasion (3 credits)
  • COMM 404 Special Topics (3 credits)
  • COMM 431 Applied Business and Professional Communication (3 credits)
  • COMM 432 Gender and Communication (3 credits)  
  • COMM 456 Nonprofit Fundraising (3 credits)
  • COMM 491 Communication and Aging (3 credits)
  • COMM 492 Dark Side of Communication (3 credits)
