Kasia’s research focuses on seed potato production, with the overall goal of improving quality. Specific emphasis is on pathogens important to seed potato production and seed health and seed-related aspects of commercial potato production.

  • Conduct research on tuber-borne potato pathogens
  • Investigate optimal seed potato production practices
  • Develop appropriate potato disease management strategies for both commercial and seed potato growers
  • Establish annual trials to test efficacy of products to manage tuber-borne diseases
  • Oversee the Southeast Idaho Aphid Monitoring network for Potato virus Y management (https://cropalerts.org/)
  • Coordinate Ag Talk Tuesday sessions (see www.uidaho.edu/ag-talk for more information)
  • Collaborate with potato researchers, Extension personnel, commodity groups and industry representatives to identify research needs and disseminate practical, science-based information on potato disease management and optimal practices for improved seed potato quality
