Next steps

Submit your final transcripts

Prior to the start of classes, you'll need to submit a final, official, degree-conferring transcript from your undergraduate institution. It is best practice to ask the institution to confirm that the transcript requested will indicate the degree awarded.

Send your final, official, degree-conferring transcript to the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). You must ensure the transcript you submit indicates an awarded degree. You will not be able to register until your transcript has been received.

Confirm LSAC has received your transcript.

Register for classes

Registration opens in early July. You will only be able to register if you have been notified that your official law school files are complete. If you have not received this notification, a hold will be placed on your admissions account. Contact the Admissions office at 208-885-2300 to learn how to ensure your files are complete.

Activate your university email right away

Make sure to activate your University of Idaho email address as soon as possible. This will be your primary email used for all university communication—including from the College of Law. Read the Activate VandalMail Guide to get started.

Frequently asked questions

Can I visit the College of Law?

Yes, in-person tours are now available at both campuses. To schedule your visit, please use the Idaho Law Campus Visit Form.

When do classes start?

New Student Orientation begins Aug. 18, 2025, and is required for all incoming students. Law classes begin the week of August 25. We suggest settling into your housing arrangements by early August to ensure a smooth start.

Can I defer my admission?

Yes, if you're considering deferring, email a formal written request with your reasoning to lawadmit@uidaho.edu. Each request is reviewed individually by our admissions committee. If your deferral is approved, a written confirmation will be sent with a contract offer that details the terms. Seat deferrals are limited to one year, and a new application is needed by January 15 the following year to confirm your seat.
