Curriculum & Distinctions

Honors sections of UI General Core Studies courses may count towards satisfying university core requirements in general education; as many as 26 honors credits satisfy the general university core requirements.

Students may receive the University Honors Core Award (19 credits) or the University Honors Program Certificate (27 credits) according to UHP guidelines, and be recognized at the annual Honors Certificate ceremony. Depending on which courses students select, as many as 26 honors credits also satisfy general university core requirements that all students must complete to graduate

The Honors Program serves a variety of student needs and interests. UHP students in good standing may take honors courses even if they decide not to work for a certificate or core award. Honors courses are designated with an HON on the transcript, so that anyone reading the transcript knows that the course work was of a special nature.
