Melanie Murphy: "From genes to landscapes - distribution and connectivity of species in a changing world"

Melanie Murphy, Associate Professor, Department of Ecosystem Science and Management/Program in Ecology, University of Wyoming

Melanie has a BS in Wildlife Resources from University of Idaho (1998), a MS in Wildlife Resources from University of Idaho (2001), PhD in Biology from Washington State University (2008), and was a post-doctoral associate at Colorado State University (2008-2010). Her research program focuses on understanding distribution and connectivity of wildlife species in anthropogenically altered landscapes, predominately using genetic methods including landscape genetics and environmental DNA (eDNA). Her research is taxonomically diverse, including amphibians, birds, macroinvertebrates, carnivores and ungulates. She primarily works on species of conservation and management concern, including the critically endangered Wyoming toad.
