Jim Kensok - Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Avista Corporation
James M. Kensok is vice president and chief security officer for Avista Corp. where he is responsible for the leadership and strategic advancement of enterprise technology strategies and security. Jim started his career with Avista in 1996 as an internal information systems auditor. He has also held positions as manager and director of information systems for Avista Utilities and as chief security officer for Avista Corp. Prior to joining Avista, he was the director of an information technology professional services practice and the manager of technology support services at a large international financial services software and computer hardware development company. Jim has more than 30 years of national and international experience in developing and managing information systems, network communications, strategic sourcing, and executive leadership of advanced enterprise technology environments. He holds a BA in management information systems from Eastern Washington University and an MBA from Washington State University. Jim attended the Utility Executive Course in 1999 and instructed in the program from 2001-2002. He has been named one of the "Top 5 CIOs in the Utility Industry" by Utility Business Magazine. He is an active and involved member of the community and technical profession. Jim is a member of the EEI/AGA Technology Advisory Group, and former chairman of the Western Energy Institute’s Corporate Services Group. His is a current board member of Eastern Washington University’s Foundation board.
