Madisen Shawver
Over the course of quarantine, I, like many others, had the chance to look back and reflect on life thus far. I have realized It’s hard for me to remember my childhood and adolescent years, especially the emotions attached to them.
Through writing and painting I explore and unearth the thoughts and emotions that seem to be trapped. I make art in hopes it will not only connect me to myself but connect others to themselves. Sometimes the words we don’t know or can’t say are best shown. I find solace and nostalgia in my paint stokes and written words. In my work I confront my pain, acknowledge my growth, and admire my perseverance.
