Honors curriculum

All of our honors courses count towards students’ degree programs.

Students may choose from a variety of honors sections of General Education courses, honors sections of academic program courses and honors-specific courses. Honors-specific course options include our honors seminars, honors thesis class and an honors student ambassador class. See our past courses for examples.

Student may get honors credits from courses and activities outside of our curriculum via our Honors Course Adjustment Contract and Honors Academic and Experiential Points Contract.

Honors academic advising

The honors academic advisors meet with honors students at least once a semester to plan completion of the honors program or attainment of one of the program’s levels of distinctions. Students are also advised about the program’s honors thesis option and the University Honors Program Grants for Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship. Honors students interested in studying abroad may meet with an honors academic advisor to learn about various opportunities to continue to earn honors credits while abroad.

Engage academically with honors outside the classroom

The honors staff continuously plans honors student engagement opportunities to further the academic skills and successes of honors students. Attend a monthly Fireside Chat with an honors faculty member to learn about cutting edge research, present your research at a regional honors conference or join the honors student club to serve your new community.
