Internships allow students to learn outside the classroom, gain relevant work experience, develop professional skills and create a network of contacts in their chosen career field.
Honors students take advantage of a variety of different internships throughout Moscow, Idaho, the Pacific Northwest and the United States each year.
Some internships are paid. Others are unpaid. Some are part-time. Others are full time. Some take place during the summer. Others take place during the academic year. Every internship is different.
To find the right internship for you, consider contacting your department or college.
The University Honors Program is happy to provide additional advising.
“As an intern at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, I learned about submarines and aircraft carriers. As a country girl moving to the metropolitan area of Seattle, I was really anxious about liking my job, the area, and making friends. After just a short time around the submarines and ships, I knew I was interested in these giant machines. I also found that I had many similar interests with the other interns and we loved exploring the area together. I am glad I did not bypass this experience just because it was going to be challenging.”
