Edward William
Edward William knows how to start a new year and semester with a bang - by flying with the Blue Angels!
In spring 2009, electrical engineering Ph.D. candidate Edward J. William II, was recognized as the 2009 Mike Shinn Distinguished Member of the Year for his high scholastic performance, dedicated service to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and for possessing high professional promise.
As part of the U.S Navy sponsored award, William received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly with the Blue Angels in his hometown of San Diego. This dream becomes a reality January 12-16, 2010.
"This award means that all dreams can come true if you seek to accomplish the tasks," said William. "The tasks may become obstacles and may sometimes mean failure, but failure yields success with utilizing ambition."
While in San Diego, William will inspire students at his high school alma mater to pursue their educational goals, no matter how far away they may seem.
William is set to complete his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering this May.
