Empowering Women in Engineering
Idaho's only higher education institution to be recognized as an Empowering Women honoree by the Idaho Business Review
The University of Idaho College of Engineering is the only higher education institution in the state to be recognized as an Empowering Women honoree by the Idaho Business Review.
The designation recognizes companies for strong commitment to supporting and elevating women in Idaho through tangible and innovative efforts that advance women in the workplace and community.
The college was selected for tangible commitment to supporting women in the field of engineering and computer science.
Our college is proud to be recognized alongside industry leaders like Micron Technology and Idaho National Laboratory in this fantastic acknowledgment of shared commitment to building a stronger Idaho. Suzie Long, Dean of the College of Engineering.
Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
Our chapter for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is one of our strongest and most engaged student-led organizations.
Our college and industry partners recognize the value of SWE and the impact this organization has on our students. This is apparent through the support the dean’s office, college departments, and industry partners give to fund U of I SWE member attendance at the world’s largest conference for women in engineering and technology, the SWE National Conference.
Belonging & Engagement
Our college offers 20+ clubs and organizations tied to international and national engineering organizations, including national competition teams.
Hands-On Experience
One of the few programs of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, the University of Idaho Grand Challenge Scholars Program (GCSP) connects you to a vibrant, multidisciplinary community and expands your knowledge of issues facing our society.
Students also have direct access to laboratories on campus and participate in our Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Program, ranked top seven in the nation by the national Academy of Engineering for infusing real-world experiences into engineering.
Academic Success
Student success is our priority in the U of I College of Engineering. Academics are an essential part of a well-rounded engineering education, and so is early access to skill-based internships and employment opportunities, clubs and organizations, and other financial and extra-curricular needs.
