Ashley Wells, a master's student in natural resources, has received two national awards for her research. She won third place in the Student Poster Competition at the national Society of American Foresters Convention held in October 2012. She also won Best Student Poster at the International Fire Ecology Congress held December 2012. Her poster, “Burn severity and vegetation response in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area, 1900-2007,” can be seen on second floor of the CNR building.
Ashley’s research is part of the NASA-funded project on the biological and social consequences of extreme fires. Her poster was co-authored by Penny Morgan, Alistair Smith, and Jeff Hicke of University of Idaho and Andy Hudak of the Rocky Mountain Research Station.
