City Builder Crissy Fanganello to Give U of I’s Michael Kyte Distinguished Lecture

September 21, 2018

An expert in urban planning and transportation issues will deliver the third annual Michael Kyte Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the University of Idaho at Moscow.

Crissy Fanganello is a city builder, cultural transformation and transportation expert and former director of transportation mobility for Denver, Colorado. She will give a presentation titled “How to Drive Success When Innovation/Disruption is the Norm.” Fanganello’s presentation begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Integrated Research and Innovation Center Atrium and is preceded by a reception at 3 p.m.

The Michael Kyte Distinguished Lecture is put on annually by U of I’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. It is named for Michael Kyte, a retired civil and environmental engineering professor. The lecture honors Kyte’s three decades of service to U of I and accomplishments in the field of transportation engineering.

Fanganello has spent the past 12 years working in the department of public works for the city and county of Denver. She started as a senior city planner and was promoted to director of policy, planning and sustainability in 2008 before becoming Denver’s first director of transportation and mobility in 2014. In her most recent positions, she used transportation planning, operations and investments to diversify the ways people move throughout Denver.

She sits on the Denver Bike Sharing board and has served on the boards of the Denver Regional Council of Governments and the National Association of City Transportation Officials.
