U of I Event Puts 20 Speakers on the Spot for South by Southwest-Style Show
October 10, 2018
MOSCOW, Idaho — Oct. 10, 2018 — A popular South by Southwest storytelling event that gives participants two minutes to answer the same question takes place Saturday, Oct. 13, in Moscow.
Known as 20x2, the South by Southwest-style event brings 20 local artists and luminaries to answer the question “How Did I Get Here?” The program, sponsored by the University of Idaho College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at One World Café, 533 S. Main St., Moscow. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Participants include Melanie Meenan and Belle Baggs in U of I’s Department of Movement Sciences, along with author Buddy Levy, Prichard Art Gallery Director Roger Rowley, poet Tiffany Midge, musician Jess Fuller, sculptor and artist David Giese and chef George Skandalos.
"With 20x2, performers put a question under a creative microscope and the audience comes along for the ride," said 20x2 Executive Producer Kevin Newsum, who will moderate the event. "Each show challenges performers and audience alike to dig deep for the unexpected, and it's no surprise given Moscow's respected artistic and storytelling tradition that so many unique talents are coming together at once."
Admission to 20x2 is $2 in advance at One World Café or $3 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Moscow Education Foundation and go toward local students and educators.
