Vandal Events Planned to Honor Jerry Kramer

August 02, 2018

University of Idaho legend Jerry Kramer will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday, Aug. 4, and Vandals around the country can gather together to watch the ceremony.

Kramer will also be the guest of honor at this year’s Inland Empire Vandal Celebration Thursday, Aug. 23, in Coeur d’Alene.

Kramer was a standout for the Vandals at guard and kicker and Idaho’s first All-American in 1956, adding first-team All-America accolades in 1957. He later played 11 seasons for the Green Bay Packers from 1958-68, was a five-time All-Pro and helped pave the way to five NFL Championships and wins in Super Bowls I and II. Kramer was named to the NFL's 50th Anniversary Team and the All-Decade Team of the 1960s. He was a charter member of the Vandal Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Pacific in Canton, Ohio, and will be televised on ESPN and NFL Network.

Alumni and supporters are invited to join the Vandals at watch parties located in Idaho (Moscow, Coeur d’Alene, Meridian and Nampa), Washington (Spokane) and Colorado (Westminster). Details about each gathering can be found below. Exclusive memorabilia will be available at each location.

The Ohio ceremony will include the unveiling of Kramer’s bronze bust that will be permanently displayed at the Hall of Fame, as well as remarks from Kramer and his fellow inductees. Kramer will be inducted as part of the class of 2018 alongside fellow NFL greats Robert Brazile, Brian Dawkins, Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Brian Urlacher, as well as contributor Bobby Beathard.
