Early Warning Grade Progress Survey Update
March 11, 2021
In mid-February, course instructors reviewed students’ academic performance by submitting Early Warning Grade Progress Surveys in VandalStar. Course instructor response rate for Spring 2021 was 62% and represented a 9% increase over the Spring 2020 response rate of 53%. Total sections reporting increased from 1,019 in Spring 2020 to 1,155 in Spring 2021. More than 15,000 VandalStar alert flags and kudos were added to students’ VandalStar accounts in a 10-day period. Proactive student outreach and follow-up meetings continue as advisors and academic support staff reach out to students to offer targeted help and ways to connect to campus resources.
Students do receive an email if a flag or kudo is added to their VandalStar account. Overwhelmingly, students share they value receiving regular academic feedback in their courses, and VandalStar helps keep students informed. Thank you to the course instructors and the entire Vandal community for their commitment and support of students and the Early Warning Grade Progress Survey program.
