Fall ’20 Marks Highest Progress Survey Response Rate to Date
October 20, 2020
In mid-September, course instructors reviewed students’ academic performance by submitting early warning grade progress surveys in VandalStar. Course instructor’s response rate, at 69% was the highest for any term thus far. The Fall 2019 submission rate was 52% with 1,034 total sections reporting. Fall 2020 term represents a 33% increase in overall submissions with 1,163 total sections completing progress surveys. Over 10,000 VandalStar flags and kudos were added to students’ VandalStar accounts in a 10-day period thanks to their efforts.
Proactive student outreach and follow-up meetings continue as advisors and academic support staff reach out to students to offer targeted help and ways to connect to campus resources. Progress Surveys are done approximately five weeks after the start of a term and give instructors a timely way to notify students who have D and F grades and/or attendance issues. Instructors can also add a “kudo” to praise students doing well. Students receive an email if a flag or kudo is added to their account.
