Get Ready for Thank-a-Thon, Feb. 12-13

January 31, 2019

Thank-a-Thon 2019 is designed for the express purpose of giving the university community the opportunity to thank Vandal donors for their generous gifts to scholarships, programming or the U of I experience. Thank-a-Thon 2019 will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 12-13, in the Rotunda and ASUI Student Lounge, Idaho Commons. In FY18, donors gave $10M to student scholarships, $8.7M to programming (study abroad, lectures, etc), $9.8M to faculty (positions, research) and $13.7M to facilities/resources (future ICCU Arena, faculty/student conference travel, etc).

With that incredible giving in mind, we want to make this year’s Thank-a-Thon as fun as possible, promote it like crazy and really boost our student (and staff and faculty) participation numbers. Everyone is welcome to join in saying thanks!

Thank-a-Thon 2019 will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 12-13, in the Rotunda and ASUI Student Lounge, Idaho Commons. Students, staff and faculty can say thank you (video or notecards), send photo booth pictures, win prizes and take Valentine selfies with our Gratitude Am-bassett-ors (there will even be puppies!)

Thank-a-Thon 2019 Details:

  1. What is my role?
    • Student promotion: Participation encouragement from you, a familiar University of Idaho face, is the best promotion. Please promote through channels that will reach students that are interested/involved with your programs/services/classes. Promotional materials are available upon request.
    • Volunteers: We’ll have a number of volunteer opportunities throughout both days for interested students, faculty and staff — folks who are willing to record student thank you videos, help with crowd control around the Bassett hound puppies, pass out flyers around campus that direct traffic to us, etc. Interested volunteers can email gratitude@uidaho.edu
    • **Optional** Promote Your Program: **Thank-A-Thon could be the perfect opportunity for you to promote your upcoming events!** You can drop off flyers, buttons, prizes that promote either your program or an event on either day of Thank-A-Thon and we’ll include it at our check-out table or you can utilize your college table.
  2. What is provided?
All supplies are provided at the event — notecards, stamps, pens, etc. We ask students to simply show up and write a thank you message to their scholarship donors or record a thank you video (to be emailed to gratitude@uidaho.edu). There will be food and drawings every hour for prizes — coffee drinks, VandalStore gift baskets, a pizza party (up to 12 people) or an off-campus lunch with President Staben. Students will receive a “gratitude stamp card” and raffle tickets for each notecard written or video recorded.
