The Faculty Senate meets weekly on Tuesdays during the academic year to discuss and act on policy matters pertaining to the immediate government of the university. Read the talking points of the Feb. 12 meeting.

Faculty Senate Talking Points: Feb. 12, 2019

Policy Changes

  • FSH 3730 – Retirement Privileges and Programs updated to remove outdated and inaccurate information.
  • FSH 3340 – Performance Evaluation of Staff Employees updated to clarify that classified staff who have completed initial 6-month probation period may not be terminated without cause and appropriate process even after having received an unsatisfactory performance evaluation.  If an unsatisfactory evaluation is received such staff will be subject to a performance development plan rather than being placed on probation.

Curriculum Changes

  • New minor in Plant Protection to be offered by Dept. of Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology approved.
  • Two new emphases in the Master of Accountancy in the areas of Audit and Tax to be offered by the Dept. of Accounting approved.
  • New Agricultural Commodity Risk Management Certificate to be offered by Dept. of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology approved.

  • April 8 — Last day to submit proposed FSH changes to Faculty Secretary.

  • April 15 — Nominations for Honorary Degrees for December 2019 Commencement due.  Nomination instructions are in FSH 4930.  Nominations must be submitted to
