Thirty Days Until Microsoft Shifts to Windows 10: Update Now

December 02, 2019

To ensure the security of university data, University of Idaho is required to participate in Microsoft Operating System updates and improvements. If using Windows 7, it is time to shift to Windows 10 to get the latest features and security. ITS will help update to Windows 10 through December 2019. After the deadline of Jan. 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide support to U of I employees on Windows 7. Learn more on the Microsoft website.

Be sure to respond when contacted by Local Support about this upgrade. Windows 7 systems that haven not been upgraded may lose network connectivity due to security concerns.

Contact ITS with questions or concerns. See more in-depth information from Microsoft or visit the ITS Windows upgrade page.
