CEO of Micron Visits U of I to Meet Future Engineers During EXPO
April 26, 2018
Sanjay Mehrotra president and CEO at Micron Technology makes his first visit to the University of Idaho joining the College of Engineering to kick-off the 25th annual Engineering Design EXPO. Mehrotra is making the trip from Boise to greet over 50 ninth and tenth grade young women participating in the inaugural Women in Engineering Exploration event April 26-27, 2018, held in conjunction with this year’s EXPO.
Mehrotra will meet Exploration participants in a closed session and then will speak to a larger audience of U of I Engineering students, faculty, alumni and EXPO participants in the Vandal Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018. Mehrotra will address the important topic of our future engineering workforce.
The Women in Engineering Exploration is a two-day event designed to give young women a better understanding of engineering through hands-on activities, experience with the disciplines, exposure to female engineering students and alumni and unique U of I Engineering programs like the Grand Challenge Scholars program. Students are traveling from across Idaho and Eastern Washington to participate.
Micron is a presenting sponsor of Engineering Design EXPO and is also generously sponsored the Women in Engineering Exploration. Additional support for the event comes from the Idaho Space Grant Consortium and the U of I Society of Women Engineers.
