Facilities Surveying Campus Lighting This Week
November 06, 2017
Facilities employees will inspect and survey light fixtures in approximately 55 buildings in Moscow over the next week. Inspections will be done in classroom, lab and office spaces.
Their goal is to not disrupt classrooms or labs. Classroom inspections will take place when they are not in use. For other building areas, employees surveying will knock on office doors before entering and will be escorted to any secure areas when applicable. A third party consultant, Trindera, is assisting Facilities with the inspections. Trindera surveyors will wear identification badges.
Survey information collected will serve to identify the precise number of fixtures remaining that required direct wire to support LED lighting in accordance with the manufactures installation instructions.
This week's surveying is a continuation of the relamping project that began in fall 2016, when the university replaced its fluorescent lamps with LED lamps. The change allows U of I to save approximately $355,000 annually in avoided energy and operational costs
Facilities thanks the campus community for their cooperation and patience. Please contact Facilities if you have any concerns or questions at 208-885-6246 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
