College of Graduate Studies Hosts Seventh Annual Innovation Showcase
March 16, 2017
The College of Graduate Studies will host its seventh annual Innovation Showcase from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 13, on the fourth floor of the Idaho Commons.
The Innovation Showcase spotlights undergraduate and graduate students’ achievements in research. Students compete in three categories for up to $500 in prizes. The competition categories are: disciplinary research, interdisciplinary research, and creative or artistic research. The disciplinary research category showcases innovative or revolutionary work completed in a single discipline. The interdisciplinary research category recognizes work completed across multiple disciplines and recognizes teamwork and collaboration between colleagues. The creative or artistic research category recognizes creativity and individuality displayed through artistic exhibits. The categories are judged by UI faculty and staff volunteers.
“The goal of the Innovation Showcase is to reward students for outstanding work while encouraging students’ abilities to master the art of presenting information in a way that is easily comprehensible to a non-specialized audience,” said Mikyla Wood, showcase coordinator in the College of Graduate Studies.
The showcase is free and open to the public to attend.
Students interested in participating may submit an application form at www.uidaho.edu/cogs/innovation-showcase/register-your-project. The deadline to submit a project is March 31, 2017. Employees interested in volunteering as judges can sign up at www.uidaho.edu/cogs/innovation-showcase/judge-registration.
