SPECIAL NOTE ON HOMECOMING COMMITTEE POSITIONS:
All individuals appointed to homecoming committee positions will also gain joint membership into the Student Alumni Relations Board (SArb) and be provided with the unique opportunity to plan various SArb events, such as Parent & Family Weekends, while connecting with prominent alumni, gaining exclusive access to campus events and building their resumes.
Vice Presidents and Directors Positions
VP of Homecoming - Grace Chadwick
This position is the primary lead of the Homecoming Committee within the Student Alumni Relations Board and the University of Idaho. They are to work with the SArb Advisor, President, and other VPs to enhance the Homecoming program while providing direction and leadership within the committee.
Assistant VP of Homecoming – 1 Position Available
The Assistant VP of Homecoming will be directly involved with the planning and execution of meetings and day-to-day committee activities under the direction of the VP and Advisor. The AVP should be willing to voice ideas and opinions while working with other committee members to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to standard.
In this position, the AVP will gain valuable skills in leadership, team management, and event organization and execution, while networking with campus and community leaders.
Due to their close work with the VP, this position will be expected to serve as VP of Homecoming following the completion of homecoming this fall and as such, is a two-year commitment.
Director of Teams – 2 Positions Available
The team's directors will work closely with other members of the homecoming committee to collect and distribute pertinent information to teams participating in homecoming events across campus. These two positions will become most involved two weeks before homecoming and the week of homecoming. Primary responsibilities include setting up meetings with teams, being their main point of contact for questions, and reminding them of upcoming events.
In this position, directors will develop skills in both team and time management, problem-solving, and oral and written communication while networking with students across campus.
Director of Marketing – 1 Position Available
This position provides a great opportunity for an individual looking to gain experience in marketing and social media management. The director of marketing will be the lead on all media, including, but not limited to: Facebook and Instagram posts, news or radio station submissions, newspaper articles, and campus and community flyers. Responsible for ensuring all Homecoming media is communicated in a timely and efficient manner, the director will work closely with team members and have the opportunity to grow time management, interpersonal, and marketing skills.
Assistant Director Positions
Community Outreach – 1 Position Available
The Assistant Director of Community Outreach will serve as the primary liaison for participating business owners and community members to ensure all Homecoming information is being communicated efficiently.
Philanthropy and Fundraising – 2-3 Positions Available
The Assistant Philanthropy and Fundraising Directors will oversee the planning and execution of the annual food drive, blood drive, and fundraising events through communication and collaboration with community partners.
Friday Night Events – 1 Position Available
The Assistant Director of Friday Night Events will orchestrate Serpentine, the Annual Homecoming Bonfire, and all events and organization needed leading to the Fireworks finale. Examples of this position's responsibilities include communication with Moscow PD, collaboration with the Moscow Fire Department, and obtaining pallets for the bonfire.
Social Media – 2 Positions Available
The Assistant Directors of Social Media will oversee the Homecoming Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages while working with homecoming team members to ensure that all events are well communicated through social media.
Merchandise – 1-2 Positions Available
A great resume builder, this position provides an opportunity for a driven and creative individual to custom design homecoming merchandise available for public purchase the week before homecoming events. Responsibilities include designing, marketing (in collaboration with marketing chairs), and distributing merchandise.
Public Relations – 1 Position Available
This position provides opportunities for those interested in public relations to form connections with local businesses as they coordinate the annual window painting contest, donations, and parade entries. Additional opportunities may include reaching out to local news and radio stations to obtain time slots to advertise homecoming events.
Parade – 2 Positions Available
A unique opportunity to take on a loved tradition in the Moscow community, these individuals will head the planning and execution of the annual parade. Responsibilities include communicating with community members to gather participation, aiding city officials with parade route set up, collecting vests and walkie-talkies, and orchestrating the order in which floats will be presented. Day of the parade, these coordinators will oversee and aid in float check-in while working with community partners, homecoming committee volunteers, and student teams to ensure the parade goes to plan.
Royalty – 1-2 Positions Available
These coordinators will be responsible for promoting royalty nominations, collecting names of royalty contestants, purchasing crowns, tiaras, and sashes, conducting interviews, and orchestrating voting.
Judges, Prizes, & Points – 1-2 Positions Available
The Judges, Prizes, and Points coordinator(s) will take the lead on finding and reaching out to potential judges, tallying points for each team through the week and during any events before the week of homecoming, announcing daily leaders, and having trophies made for the top three teams/partnerships at the end of the week.
