How to Apply

Sustainability Grant applicants must be University of Idaho undergraduate, graduate or law students enrolled at the university during the entire duration of the project. Applicants must be in good academic standing.

Partnerships are allowed, including those with non-students (staff, faculty, off-campus entities, etc.); however, students must play the central role in project design, execution and reporting.

The Grant Info Forum, offered in September, is an informative and interactive event for prospective applicants to learn about the program and how to apply.

Attendance is required for those wishing to submit proposals. Plus, this is a great chance to discuss ideas, meet others who want to work on similar projects and learn how to apply for funding. For scheduling conflicts or other questions, email the Projects Coordinator at

If you want to make a difference in campus sustainability, but don’t know where to start, you can attend this optional brainstorming event via Zoom from 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17,2021. Email for the Zoom link.

Work with others to bring your big ideas to life!

The Grant Writing Workshop is held two weeks after the Info Forum in the fall semester. This event gives you an opportunity to have your draft grant proposal reviewed by Sustainability Center mentors. At the writing workshop you will learn how to produce a well-crafted, competitive application. Participation in this event is required for those wishing to submit a proposal. For scheduling conflicts or other questions, email the Projects Coordinator at

The Request for Proposals (RFP) includes all the instructions you need to write your project proposal. The RFP is also available in hard-copy form at the required Info Forum and Writing Workshop.
