American Society of Mechanical Engineers University of Idaho Student Section

Society of Automotive Engineers

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at the University of Idaho is more than just your everyday club. ASME is all about fun and meeting other engineers as well as introducing students to engineering outside of the classroom.

ASME hosts social events several times a month with everything from pizza and ice cream sandwiches to rock climbing and ice skating. Students have had the opportunity to tour the facilities of industry leaders all over the Northwest including Triumph Composites, ATK, Boeing, Janicki, and many more.

Why should you be involved?
ASME Members at the University of Idaho benefit from opportunities to:
  • Make connections with other mechanical engineers through general meetings, officer meetings and social events.
  • Experience local industry by touring engineering facilities around the Northwest.
  • Develop leadership skills by becoming an officer and helping to organize events for your peers.
  • Get involved by joining a nationwide organization of mechanical engineers.

Members participate in many activities including department BBQs, meet & greets with professors and industry professionals, tours of major engineering companies around the northwest, conferences and competitions like the ASME MicroBaja Competition.
