A Promise to Idaho's Students

continue to next section

Expanding access to educational excellence is the University of Idaho’s promise to hard-working students. You can help us fulfill this promise. Through the most ambitious comprehensive campaign in Idaho’s history, you will guarantee greater opportunities for students to learn, discover, connect and build a brighter future. Together, we are an unstoppable force for positive impact.

You Empower Experiential Learning

“I came to U of I not knowing which area of business to study and will graduate with a degree in finance and experience in the financial industry.”

Grateful for the scholarship support he receives, Simon Nguy pays it forward through his Vandal experience. He’s part of a student team managing over $900,000 in long-term investments. Returns from those investments fund scholarships for future students.

His hands-on investment management experience is paying dividends, too, by landing him an internship at a regional bank.

Our promise to Idaho’s students

A rigorous, supportive environment with robust out-of-the-classroom learning opportunities — because the most transformational experiences extend beyond traditional coursework and study in the classroom. To fulfill this promise, the University of Idaho must grow current programs and build new offerings that foster holistic student success. From pre-college readiness, student life, health and wellbeing to research, tutoring, education abroad and volunteerism, we’re expanding programs that build community and develop essential, well-rounded skills for the leaders of tomorrow.

You Are Removing Barriers

“I’m doing what I thought was impossible.“

Kathy Ruiz was determined to go to college, even knowing it wouldn't be easy as a first-generation student whose family could not help her pay for it.

She worked two jobs over the summer and part-time during her freshman year, which meant little sleep and constant worry over finances.

Scholarship support changed everything. For the first time, Kathy isn’t working to support herself. Now, her job is being an engineering student. She has time for student clubs. Time to network, to feel a sense of belonging, to be her best self.

Our promise to Idaho’s students

That every motivated student in Idaho who earns a coveted spot at the University of Idaho has the opportunity to enroll, thrive in their studies and graduate on time with less debt. To fulfill this promise, the University of Idaho must provide more pathways to college that assist students through navigating the application and admission process, providing the scholarships necessary to enroll and persist in their educational pursuits and ensuring all those hard-working students that qualify for the university have the necessary support to succeed.

You Propel Meaningful Careers

What she found at U of I was a path to many dream jobs, from her own back yard to across the globe. She also found a community of supportive professors, alumni and fellow students, all helping one another succeed.

Wherever her law degree takes her, Julie will have the skills and knowledge to begin transforming our society into a better version of itself.
