Thanksgiving Recipes

Each year Donor Relations and Stewardship works with students in the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences to create Thanksgiving appropriate recipes to share with alumni, donors and friends.

These recipes are developed by students in Family Consumer Sciences 385, using the Quantity Food Production and Equipment Lab. During this course students learn and practice principles of quantity food production including recipe development and evaluation. The course contributes to the supervised practice experience for students in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics. For the Thanksgiving project, students are asked to create a team recipe that reflected both the spirit of the season and Vandal pride. The recipes can be found here.

We hope you enjoy these recipes and make them part of your holiday table.

Expect the Unexpected: Surprising Ingredient(s) Deliciously Dressed Up

Vandal Thanksgiving Recipe Challenge 2018

This year, the students in the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences 385 class were challenged to rethink traditional by using at least one unconventional ingredient. They rose to the challenge and have created ten deliciously different recipes for your Vandal family’s Thanksgiving table. This year’s recipes will surprise, delight and utterly satisfy your holiday guests.

We applaud all of the students who participated in this year’s challenge and would like to extend a special congratulations to Hailie Kuttler and Tasha Hetrick on their winning recipe, Root for the Vandals! Vegetable Soup.

We hope that you find a dish here that inspires you and becomes a family favorite.

Happy Thanksgiving!
