Many other national award opportunities are available. A list of some of the most well-known awards is provided below (please note: this list is not comprehensive!). For the Honors Society awards, students must work through the chapter advisor. For all other awards on this list, students may apply directly and do not need to seek nomination from U of I. The Distinguished Scholarships Program may be able to provide some assistance with these awards on a case-by-case basis. Contact the program coordinator for information.

Killam Undergraduate Fellowships for Americans
Undergraduate funding for U.S. students to undertake one semester or a full academic year of study as an exchange student in Canada

Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows
Highly selective six week summer institute for rising college juniors offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities at the home of America's first president just outside our nation's capital. All majors with proven leadership ability and involvement, a minimum 3.4 GPA, and US citizenship are welcome to apply.

Phi Kappa Phi Scholarships & Awards
Awards for members of Phi Kappa Phi. Study abroad grants are also offered to non-members. Applicants for the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship must be nominated by the University of Idaho and apply by the campus deadline listed below. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India
The American Indian Foundation's Clinton Fellowship pairs a select number of young professionals with credible NGOs and social enterprises in India in order to accelerate impact and create effective projects that are replicable, scalable, and sustainable.

Funding for students pursuing a DPhil in biomedical sciences at Oxford or Cambridge; students will receive an Oxford or Cambridge degree, but split their time between the UK and the NIH in Maryland

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Scholarships
Provides summer research opportunities across the country for undergraduates in science & engineering

Science, Mathematics, & Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship
Sponsored by the Department of Defense, the award provides funding, internships, and post-graduate employment for both undergraduate and graduate students in STEM fields

Whitaker International Fellowship Program
One year of funding for recent biomedical engineering graduates to conduct research, pursue graduate study, or undertake an internship abroad

Paid positions teaching English and sharing U.S. culture in Spain, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education; must have bachelor's degree by start of assignment and be proficient in Spanish language

For Non-U.S. Citizens
