Scholarship and Endowment Funds

Operation Education Scholarship

This is the overarching, non-endowed fund established for honorably separated veterans with service connected injury caused or aggravated by military service after September 11, 2001. Spouses of above mentioned veterans may also be eligible.

 

Operation Education Support Fund

This non-endowed fund was created to provide support for veterans and their spouses who are participating in the OPED and associated endowment scholarship programs at the University of Idaho. It will be distributed to provide discretionary strategic and flexible support for the program and scholarship in order to fulfill its mission.

Ware Endowment

This scholarship was established by Barbara and Wray Featherstone, Jr. in honor of Barbara's brother Lt. Donald Frank Ware, and his affiliation with the University of Idaho and the U.S. Air Force. Recipient must be an honorably separated veteran with service connected injury caused or aggravated by military service after September 11, 2001, or the spouse of said veteran. Priority goes to veterans who are Idaho residents with a disability resulting from action in the combat zone. 

Amos Endowment

This endowment was created to recognize the leadership of U.S. Marine Corps Commandant General James F. and Bonnie Amos and to honor the legacy of military service of the Caccia-Linehan families. Priority goes to U.S. Marine Corp, secondly U.S. Navy veterans and/or their spouses who are Idaho residents with a disability resulting from action in the combat. 

Trader Endownment

This endowment was established by David G. Decker in honor of the legacy, leadership, and contributions at the University of Idaho from Colonel Everette P. "Red" Trader. Funds may be presented as a scholarship or to enhance support services. 

Hackney Endowment

This endowment was created for the benefit of STEM Education programs with two-thirds of the distributions providing funding to the Dean of the College of Education to utilize and one-third of the distributions providing funding for the OPED program to utilize. Earnings go to strategic initiatives and opportunities for these programs regarding STEM Education research, outreach and engagement. 

Dan Button Scholarship Endowment

This endowment is to honor U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Dan Button's outstanding dedication to the veterans and OPED programs at the University of Idaho and to support strategic initiatives and opportunities for student veterans and their families.
