Two of the five presidential candidates have been to the Moscow campus so far, Donald L. Birx of Penn State Erie and Jack McGillen Payne of the University of Florida. Both bring strong backgrounds and desires to lead land-grant universities to the table. It has been helpful to have the opportunity to meet these candidates as they tour Idaho. If you missed them, there's video of Birx and Payne online.
James L. Applegate of the Lumina Foundation will visit the Moscow campus Oct. 22. View his and other Idaho tour schedules online.
I hope many of you have the opportunity to meet candidates and voice your thoughts as tours continue. Please note, on the presidential finalist website, there is a feedback request form. All alumni are invited to give feedback, and all submissions will be taken into consideration during the search process. Don't hesitate to let your voice be heard!

Graduating into a Career
Josh Allen '12 finds job opportunity he was looking for with California-based environmental services
Over the past several years, the news has been filled with stories about recent college graduates who are having a difficult time finding work - of any kind - let alone in their field of study. But Josh Allen - who graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. in anthropology in the spring of 2012 - had his first professional job as an archaeological technician within a month. He has since gone on to secure a full-time position at PAR Environmental Services in Sacramento, California, where he has worked since May of this year, and it is just what he was looking for.

Jill Flockhart '13 works with Soccer Without Borders to bring youth development programs to Uganda
Before Jill Flockhart '13 was first recruited to the University of Idaho in 2009, she said she would have had trouble finding the Gem State on a map.
“I knew nothing about Idaho before I arrived,” she said.
Four years later, her international studies degree has given a closer look at the world and her place in it.
Flockhart has spent the last three months in the East African Republic of Uganda working with the Soccer Without Borders program. The nonprofit builds and maintains community youth development programs in underserved areas. There are multiple programs across the US, and two international locations in Nicaragua and Uganda.
