Serving Our Students and Community Members in Need
As students working in the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action, we know that school can be hard. And we strongly believe that it should not be made harder by food insecurity. That is why we started the Vandal Food Pantry, so students can serve students (and community members!) in need, to ensure that no one has to go to class hungry.
What does it mean to be food insecure? Whether it is for just one week, or for the entire year, if you are finding it difficult to pay for food or afford regular meals, you could be experiencing food insecurity. And you are certainly not alone; when it comes to aid, 80% of our undergraduates demonstrate need, and almost half come from low-income backgrounds.
