As the opening event for the regional Northwest Women's Studies Association's annual conference, the Women’s Center is proud to present, for one night only, “Carnival Knowledge,” a one-woman “comic, carnal romp” written and performed by critically acclaimed actor-comedian Naomi Grossman
, best known for her role as “Pepper” in the FX television show “American Horror Story: Asylum.”
"Carnival Knowledge" premiered in 2009 at the Lex Theatre in Los Angeles, where it enjoyed a twice-extended, sold-out run and rave reviews (“Recommended” by LA Weekly). It was then reprised at the world-famous fringe theatre festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it received more critical praise (4 Stars: The Scotsman, Broadway Baby, Fringe Review) and a transfer to London’s West End (Leicester Square Theatre). "Carnival Knowledge" most recently played at the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival, followed by an encore performance at NYC’s People’s Improv Theater.
“We are thrilled to bring this talented woman and her show to Moscow,” said Heather Shea Gasser, Director of the Women’s Center, “Feminists are often portrayed in the media as angry and very serious, so this is our opportunity to show that feminists can also be hilarious!”
The performance will take place on Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre, 508 S. Main Street in Moscow. Tickets are on sale now at the Women's Center, and will be available at the door. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for students with valid ID. Registered conference attendees will be admitted to the show free of charge.
