Prestigious Government Appointment
Professor Richard Wells, faculty member of the ECE department and the Neuroscience Program, was appointed to serve during January 2010 on a National Science Foundation Panel for the Science Masters Program, which is one of the initiatives in President Obama's ARRA Stimulus funding bill.
This panel considered proposals for professional science master's degree programs. NSF funding for these programs is part of the ARRA Stimulus bill (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) and is one of the top national priorities for federal education expenditures. They also reviewed and evaluated proposals from institutions across the United States to identify and fund those that best met the national objectives of the stimulus program and showed the greatest potential to become self-supporting within the next three years.
